Aboutfam is a platform designed to help people connect with family, preserve relationships across generations, and share meaningful moments through photos, videos, audio, messages, and social interactions. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our applications, website, and services.

By using Aboutfam, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Information we collect

When you create an account on Aboutfam, we may collect information such as your name, username, phone number, email address, date of birth, gender, profile image, and other details you choose to provide. Because Aboutfam includes family relationship features such as FamTree and GenTree, we also collect and process relationship information you voluntarily add, including family connections, relationship titles, lineage structures, spouse details, and related family information.

Media and user content

Aboutfam allows users to share photos, videos, audio, messages, captions, comments, reactions, and other content. When you upload or share content, it may be stored securely on cloud infrastructure and processed to improve delivery, playback quality, performance, and user experience. This may include generating previews, compressing media, or optimizing files for different devices and network conditions.

Messages

Messages shared on Aboutfam are currently not end-to-end encrypted. While we use industry-standard security measures to protect communications and platform data, users should understand that messages and shared content may be processed and stored on our servers in order to provide the service and maintain platform functionality.

Family relationship features

Family-related features such as FamTree and GenTree are designed with privacy and controlled visibility in mind. Family structures, relationship connections, and related family information are intended to be viewable only by authorized family members, connected users, or users permitted through privacy settings. We take reasonable steps to protect family relationship data and restrict unauthorized access.

Technical information and permissions

We may collect technical information such as device type, operating system, IP address, browser type, app interactions, crash reports, and usage analytics. This information helps us improve security, performance, reliability, and user experience. If you choose to enable permissions such as contacts, camera, microphone, storage, or location access, Aboutfam may use those permissions to support features like media uploads, audio/video recording, finding people you know, or location-based functionality.

Sharing information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. However, we may share information with trusted service providers and infrastructure partners that help us operate the platform, including cloud hosting providers, analytics providers, communication providers, storage providers, and security services. We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, and integrity of Aboutfam, its users, or the public.

Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create and share on Aboutfam. However, by uploading or sharing content, you grant Aboutfam a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the service.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information. However, no platform or internet-based service can guarantee complete security, and users acknowledge that they use the service at their own risk.

Account updates and deletion

You may update your account information, manage privacy settings, or delete your account through the Aboutfam mobile app. To delete an account, open the app and go to Profile, open Settings, select Manage Account, select the account, choose Delete account, then confirm Delete.

When deletion is completed, Aboutfam removes or disconnects the account from active use and deletes account data where deletion is technically and legally possible. This includes profile details, contact details, account settings, uploaded photos, videos, audio, posts, tapes, minutes, captions, comments, reactions, family relationship data such as FamTree or GenTree links, device tokens, saved sessions, and app activity data tied to the account.

If you delete your main account, linked sub accounts may continue as separate accounts and you will no longer remain their owner after this action. Some information may remain temporarily in backups, logs, security records, audit records, or where required for legal, safety, dispute, fraud-prevention, or operational reasons. Policy updates

Aboutfam may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the platform after updates become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
